Description

The Healthy Climate Monitor stands as the most advanced and all-encompassing climate monitoring system available. Equipped with an integrated camera, it enables round-the-clock visual access to your barn environment.

By combining real-time imagery with a network of sensors, it has revolutionized early detection and prevention strategies in animal health.

Whether it’s pigs, goats, calves, chickens, or horses—this technology helps identify root causes of issues such as respiratory conditions, elevated ammonia levels, restlessness, and other environmental or health concerns.

Features

  • 24/7 Barn Monitoring: High-resolution camera with night vision ensures continuous visibility day and night.
  • Multisensor Technology: Tracks temperature, humidity, ammonia, CO₂, and airflow in real-time.
  • Smart Alerts: Automatic notifications for unusual changes in climate or animal activity.
  • Animal Health Analytics: AI-driven insights help detect early signs of respiratory issues, stress, and environmental discomfort.
  • Cross-Species Compatibility: Designed for pigs, goats, calves, chickens, horses, and other farm animals.
  • Cloud-Based Dashboard: Access data and camera footage remotely from any device.
  • Easy Installation: Plug-and-play setup tailored for barns and animal enclosures.
  • Data Logging & Reports: Generate health and environment reports for compliance and analysis.

Measurements

The sensors in the Healthy Climate Monitor measure: temperature, relative humidity, CO2, ammonia, air pressure, light intensity, movement and dust particles. With the cameras it is possible to take photos, analyze movements, record night shots and thermal images. Sensors measure every minute. Photos are continuously analyzed and stored when there is enough movement.

  • Photos: The HD camera takes photos day and night that show you the behavior of your animals. Do they sleep where you want them to sleep? How often and with how many do they stand at the feeding bowl or drinking place? Compare this with the sensor data and you better understand what your animals are doing.
  • Light and Lux: The brightness of the camera image is shown in a graph as light intensity, which allows you to see the day-night rhythm that your animals experience. The better this rhythm, the healthier it is. Optionally, a Lux sensor can also be installed. This measures the amount of light on a certain surface.
  • Ammonia: Ammonia (NH3) is harmful to everyone’s health in higher concentrations. It can be felt in your eyes from 7ppm. It is also harmful to the environment, so we supply ammonia sensors for both inside and outside your barn.
  • Carbon Dioxide: Carbon dioxide (CO2) values give a good indication of the air exchange. Sufficient ventilation for people means: CO2 is lower than 1200 ppm. In barns during cold periods, maximum CO2 values of 2000 ppm for calves, 2500 ppm for chickens and 3000 ppm for pigs* apply.
  • Temperature: The ideal temperature is different for everyone. Also for animals. They cannot put on a sweater or grab a blanket. Or just get some fresh air. In combination with camera images and CO2 temperature becomes more meaningful.
  • Relative Humidity: < 40 RH% is too dry: your mucous membranes dry out, defense line decreases. Some viruses are more stable at low humidity, e.g. PRRSV*. > 80 RH% is too moist: greater risk of bacteria, e.g. streptococci*.
  • Air pressure: A negative pressure compared to the outside is essential for good airflow in mechanically ventilated barns. Compare the air pressure inside with the air pressure outside to see if your ventilation system is working as expected.
  • Movement: An image analysis of the thermal imaging photos is done continuously. We put the differences between successive images in a graph as a measurement value of movement. Decrease in exercise can indicate fever and increase restless behavior.
  • Particulate matter: Particulate matter is invisible dust. The smaller, the deeper it can get into your lungs. Particulate matter with a diameter smaller than 10 micrometers (PM 10) is not filtered through the nose and mucous membranes, making it harmful. Also for animals.*
  • Sound (option): Screaming, coughing, sneezing: we all want to hear it. Sound is continuously analyzed and plotted in a spectrogram for easy interpretation of hard peaks in the sound spectrum.
  • Thermal Image (option): Fantastic (FLIR) high-resolution thermal images of your animals and the compartment walls and floor: which places are cold or hot? And how much exercise is there? Discover these surprisingly informative photos.
  • Additional Sensors: Methane: it is now also possible to build the Axetris methane sensor into an HCM. Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas that is created when organic matter decomposes. A lot of methane is produced during digestion in cows and manure storage in pigs.

Benefits for Farmers and Animals

  • Improved Animal Welfare: Maintain optimal conditions to boost comfort, reduce stress, and support healthy development.
  • Early Problem Detection: Spot issues like high ammonia levels or unusual animal behavior before they escalate.
  • Reduced Veterinary Costs: Preventive care through monitoring lowers treatment expenses.
  • Increased Productivity: Happier, healthier animals contribute to better growth and yields.
  • Peace of Mind: Know your animals are safe and your barn is under watch—anytime, anywhere.
