ML2 ThetaProbe Overview This tried and tested probe measures volumetric soil water content to within 1% in contrast with TDR based techniques, the ML2 is simpler to connect and log, easier to calibrate for specific soils and can be used in saline soils. ThetaProbes can be pushed into the soil surface or buried at any depth. The output can either be logged (the ML2 is compatible with most types of loggers) or displayed on the ThetaMeter readout unit. Features ► Low Maintenance ► Durable ► Frost resistant ► Low cost ► Quick Response time ► Accurate ► Easy data logging
Installation ThetaProbes are robust, buriable and maintenance free. They can be placed in the soil by inserting them into augered holes or alternatively by positioning them in the wall of a trench (which is then carefully backfilled). Optional Extension Tubes assist convenient placement and removal when burying at depth. Access holes should be angled to minimise water "tracking".
