Overview A fully automatic, simple to use breath alcohol measuring instrument for use by traffic police, in industry, medicine - and in many other applications. On account of its accuracy the alcolmeter® SD-400 is approved and used in various countries as an evidential instrument. To use, simply switch on, attach a mouthpiece and tell the subject to blow. His or her alcohol level is shown just seconds later on a large, easy to read display. The reading is then stored in memory, with date and time, for later download to a computer system for management purposes. An optional data-logging system (e.g. operator, subject, sex and age) is also available. A reusable plastic sample cup may be used as an alternative to the single-use mouthpiece tube for fast, non-invasive PASS/FAIL precursory testing. Alternatively, connect the instrument to a PC loaded with OnLineTM-400, for a low-cost 'evidential' system. 
Specifications Fuel Cell Sensor ► High specificity to alcohol, unaffected by other possible breath contaminants. Warm-up Time ► The instrument is ready for use within 15 seconds of switch on, at any, temperature. Measuring Range ► Normally 0.02 to 2.00mg/litre BrAC. An over-range indication is given at higher levels. Analytical Response Time ► Normally within 30 seconds; but within 5 seconds at zero alcohol levels. Temperature Range ► From -5○C to +40○C, for optimum operation. Recalibration ► Every six months, using either a wet-bath simulator or Alcocal® gas standard. Recovery Time ► Typically 10 seconds at zero alcohol; 60 seconds at 0.35mg/litre BrAC; 4 minutes at 2.00mg/litre. Memory Capacity ► 500 tests as standard, expendable up to 5,000 on demand. Power Supply ► 5 new AA cells give at least 3,000 breath tests. Two stage low power warning system. Radio Frequency Immunity ► Exceeds requirement of EN 50082-1. Shock/Vibration ► Impact resistant ABS: meets IEC 68-2-27 Part 2.1 Test EA and IEC 68-2-6 Port 2.1 Test FC.
