ELSEC environmental monitor overview

Anyone can take measurements straight out of the box. The appropriate button is pushed depending on the measurement required and the reading is taken. The unit automatically turns off 10 seconds after the last reading unless a button is held down for over 5 seconds, this causes continuous measurements to be taken until another button is pressed.

The selected reading is displayed in large numbers, additional information (maximum and minimum readings, when they occurred etc) is shown in smaller characters.

The large 8 line display allows the use of a menu system to select the more advanced functions, change units etc. This avoids difficult to remember button combinations.

An hand sized instrument with an easy to read display, designed to be used by anyone, however technically literate, with little reference to an instruction manual.

Type 764C

Same as the 764, with added data logging. Over 10,000 readings of all four parameters can be automatically taken at selectable intervals (every 10 seconds to 1 hour). The saved data can then be transferred to a computer by a wireless infra-red link (IrDA compatible). This means that the unit need only be brought close to a PC with an infrared interface to download logged data, no cable or plugging/unplugging is required. Many modern computers have an infra-red interface built in; for those that do not, adapters are available.

When logging data the 764 can be turned off to save power and the built in clock will turn the unit on whenever a reading needs to be taken, this enables a 764 to be left taking readings for months at a time (10,000 readings at one per hour is more than a year). The clock can also be set to start logging at any time in the future (minutes or years ahead if required).

Software is provided to display the logged data as graphs, tables etc and export it in a CSV format that can be accessed and displayed by many programs (e.g. Microsoft Excel).
